AMARILLO, TX — A two-vehicle accident left one person dead in Amarillo, TX on Thursday, January 9th, 2014, according to a news report released by The Amarillo Globe.
Police have reason to believe 48-year-old Sidney Phillips was killed when the GMC she was driving was struck by a Chevy Tahoe while driving on Loop 335. Investigators believe the Tahoe may have crossed into the lanes of oncoming traffic before the impact.
Scene of the Accident
Sidney Phillips was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders when they arrived. The driver of the Tahoe was identified by police as Heather Moore, who was taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.
Officials representing the Texas Highway Patrol are currently leading the investigation into the fatal accident.
