Commentary:
I do my best to inform people, and dispel some commonplace myths surrounding accidents that tend to get people into trouble. One of these rumors that I run into frequently is the classic phrase “pedestrian always has the right of way”. I really wish I knew where this came from, because not only is it wrong, but it is dangerous to tell people this. Unless in a crosswalk, or parking lot, the pedestrian almost NEVER has the right of way. Granted, there are always exceptions, the most common of which is turning vehicles. If a car is sitting at a light waiting to turn, and fails to make sure the path that they are turning into is clear and free of obstacles, the driver could be liable for the damages for whatever they hit.

Karla was my friend…and even my roommate at one point. The person she was with kicked her out of the car on 1187 because he was drunk and angry. She didn’t have her glasses with her and suffers with night blindness..this wasn’t her fault. She is severely missed.
